Visas, visas, and more visas

I'm finally settled in (for the most part) in my new apartment in Germany. I just sent in my 2 year visa for Germany and am about to fill out my next 6 month visa for India. Granted, I'll only be there for 2 weeks, but it's still fun to fill up more pages in my passport. The plan is to purchase the tickets to Mumbai tomorrow. Then, our group of 6 will be sent out to Mumbai and Lonavla to work with a few established ministries in the slums. The main goal of this trip is to gain relationships with our contacts and see if there is anywhere our art ministry can help. Ideally we will return with a new project to promote and feature in our upcoming book: Reject This Reality.

BIG NEWS!

Actually lots of it! This is the start of a revolution. I've been ready to move for awhile and God's timing has finally allowed my gifts to team up with HIS plans. I've been working NONSTOP this summer on designs, photos, art, ideas, prayers, and BIG HOPE!

I hope you join me in praying for the next few months for these projects. The BOOK is set to be finished by Christmas of this year so we can get it printed and take it on tour with us through the East Coast at the end of March 2010. The tour will be to promote our ministry and SALE THE BOOK! Oh I can't wait! 100% of proceeds from the book will go directly into funding our ministry and projects.

As well as working on final designs for the book, I am hoping to join our team, Pick A Pocket, in a trip to India. There we will collaborate with our good missionary friend (who's name I may not disclose) works in the Red District area outside of Kolkata. We want to speak with her friends (women who have worked as prostitutes most or all of their life) to help in starting a clothing company. This will give them work so they can provide for themselves financially and alow them to get out of prostitution. And of course, our creative minds will be able to start new trands around the world! Addis Ababa and the children

Upon my stay in the capitol city of Ethiopia, I met a young man named Abdissa. Though his manner and intellect lead you to believe he's well into his thirties, this man was a mere 27 years old. For several years Abdissa went to the streets several times a week bringing the street children tea and cookies. He eventually became friends with many of them and a foe to some. He was know as the protestant man, taking about a man named Jesus, and sharing hope with the orphans. His heart screamed for compassion over these children, and after a few years, he decided to take his love into action adopting his first child from the streets. He is now the Children's Home Director and is in care of 25 children age 2-17. You can tell just how much the children love him like a father and he respects them just the same. It's a beautiful place. If you ever get the chance to go to Ethiopia, stop by to hang out and play with the kids and tell them Stephanie says hi

In the news

There are so many things that I still have to do before I leave again for Europe. First, I'm working on my photographer friend Trin's Portfolio:

I also have sooo many new pictures on my flickr! It's so exciting to see film processed a year after taking the pictures. It's one of my favorite things in life :)

Back from Cornerstone!

This past week, I was able to attend my favorite even of the year… CORNERSTONE! It was such a blessing to be around so many musicians who have a passion for Christ. Granted, I didn’t enjoy most of the music played, but I know the bands meant well.

I also got the opportunity to talk to several organizations like Project AK-47, Blood Water Mission, and a group that trains college age kids in how to live in community. I forget the name of the group, but after talking with them, I know that I would have joined in a year ago if I hadn’t already committed to YWAM.

My favorite part about the festival is the community - the people at my camp, running into people several times throughout the week and getting to know them, and most of all meeting people that I never knew here in Nashville. There are so many people here with the same passions as me. It makes me excited to see where this city is going…

I’m currently working on putting together a fundraiser show to promote the book. I’m not quite sure where to start, so if you have any ideas… LET ME KNOW!

Please keep that in your prayers as well as the design itself for the book. The Ethiopia team returned about a month ago with updates from our friends and more pictures that we can feature in the book as well!
Also, please pray for my friend Taylor. He is finishing up his last week in the School of Intercessory Prayer and needs to return home this fall, but does not have the fund for it. If you’d like to help him return after almost a year away from the states, please contact him: tspraca@yahoo.com

Finally, I am here in Nashville until September 23rd and am ready to take your picture! Seriously, if you know anyone getting engages (or married), seniors, family, you name it that needs their portraits, contact me and I can set up an appointment. I sold my first photo at Red Tree Coffee in Kingston Springs. It's such a cute place. Amy, the owner, and her sister did such a great job making an inviting environment in that small town. If you're ever in the area you should check it out. I will be showing for the rest of this month (and maybe through the summer).

And as I was going through my pictures today, I found one of the tribe elder Biwa. I forgot about this day. I sat with a few of the elders under a "tent" made from wood and stood about 4 feet high. They sat here for hours during the day to keep out of the sun. I think he liked the shades. What is funny though, he was laughing and being silly the entire time until it came time to take a picture... he got a very serious/tough look on his face.

So today I decided to google search my name; and since I am the only Stephanie Eatherly in the world (that I know of), I discovered a few things about myself.

A.) my "backing vocals add counterpoint; bringing a three-diminsional dynamic that doesn't allow the song ["I & Thou"] to become trite or maudlin". (article)
